I am unable to throw out anything that holds possibility or inherent beauty. As a general practice, many of my prints get the edges cut off in the final stage. The resulting strips (of various thickness) become fascinating artifacts and records of their 'parent' image. Collage is a joyful tactile process and a satisfying way for me to 're-purpose' my prints (or parts of them). I traditionally revert to making collages through the winter months because my unheated studio in the Hudson Valley is closed. Each season I come up with a different arrangement and make a series of one design. The interest with each collage is that the viewer gets a year's worth of print information or an index of sorts in condensed form.
