At some point you realize printing on paper is only one surface option. Coincidence had it that my neighbor was scrapping a huge stash of copper plates from his father's circuit board printing company. The light of inspiration burned bright that day and I negotiated to acquire all the plates he had. Since then, each time I work on a plate(s) I feel confronted by a unique opportunity to create something new and fantastic. The 'Copper Series' connects to all my other themes but also ranges further into the unknown bringing back new ideas for me to explore. Finishing each plate is a long and complex process but I feel the quality of the metal deserves my best effort. The copper plate is my uncharted sea, my wilderness; its unique qualities open up possibilities that keep my work fresh.
